Unfortunately I did not buy this cam from Amazon because at the time another vender was $10 cheaper but a few days later Amazon was cheaper---just my luck. The other vender has a 7 day return policy and I have had my cam 12 days. The first set of batts, Rayovac Alkys (pre-tested at 1.56 volts) only lasted for five 20 second vids and 2 days! So I programmed the cam for pics instead of vids and reloaded it with Energizer Lithium batts (pre-tested at 1.72 volts) and the cam locked up after only 9 pics and 3 days on the tree---batts were completely dead and measured .23 volts---yes .23 after 3 days. JUNK! Also what few pics and vids I got were not good. The night flash range is only good to about 25 feet and pics are grainy---I never did get a decent night video. The advertized trigger speed is 1 second but professional tests have shown it is much higher at 2 plus seconds. I have to rate customer service as bad (zero stars) because it takes a minumum of 6 weeks to get a replacement! I now wish I would have spent $10 more and bought a 4th Bushnell 119466c as the 3 that I own have been great cams but I wanted to try something different---big mistake! For the record I'm not a rookie and own over 20 trail cams. Hope this review helps you.

The trigger speed on this camera was consistantly four seconds,
too long for trail survailance,picture quality is ok not great,
I tested a buddy's bushnell no glow, excellant trigger speed and
great pictures,they cost a little more, may be worth the extra
money to you.Good luck

I was really hoping the good reviews were right and that the bad ones were isolated issues. However, after having this unit for less than a day it's on its way back. First off, the instant you read through the documentation you'll see that it's NOT an 8 megapixel camera, but rather a 5 megapixel sensor with an interpolation (i.e. image stretch) mode that will store an 8 MP image. It also of course does lower resolutions at 3 MP and 1.3 MP, but amazingly doesn't even do native 5 MP! So if you're looking for 8 MP, you might as well buy a cheaper 5 MP camera and stretch the images. You'll get basically the same result. The artifacts of stretching are clearly visible in the images I'll post shortly. I'd much rather have the 5 MP image with no artifacts.
While the IR night flash DOES appear to be a good black flash (didn't notice any flash or hear any shutter noise, etc.) the moving object that caused the trigger has to be perfectly still to get a clear image. So while background shots are clear (if grainy -- to be expected), any motion at all is blurred. Not much use for a motion detection camera that can't capture motion! I'm assuming the range is decent on the flash, partly because anything getting too close is burnt out (solid white) due to poor compensation (another complaint I've since found on a review website).
The camera is supposed to support a burst mode, but despite setting up for burst, I couldn't get it to do so at full resolution. It may work in the default low resolution mode (hard to tell from the images) but repeated attempts at full resolution and daylight illumination would only take one picture.
And of course the killer is the battery life. This was mentioned several times here, as well as other review sites, and it's a fact. In 12 hours of use and a total of 22 test images (most of which were useless blurs from when setting/picking up the unit) it took eight brand new AA alkalines from 1.57 V to 1.45 V (not dead yet, but well on the way). With the external power port, I could live with putting it on a big external rechargeable if this was the only problem, but under the circumstances, it's not worth it.
Generally, the unit's packaged pretty nice, and for still images, they don't look too bad (although there's nothing in the still image that we were trying to shoot!), but overall the interface, etc. feels very outdated. Granted I don't need them wasting a lot of money on expensive displays that won't get used much, but this really feels like late 80s tech. Given what's out there at a similar price point, I think I can do better.
